I bought a new sketchbook at B&N today and my goal is to sketch a little something in it every day using whatever medium I feel like at the time. Today’s studies in pastel I feel got away from me a little, but I am posting it anyway and I’ll move on from here.
I think however it might be interesting to do a larger study of the lantern sketch and really go at it from a painting perspective with the pastels…get a nice buildup of pigments over pigments…it could be rich.

Ohhh I like the texture of the paper, seems canvas-like.
I like the experimentation of the different medias. The pastels give it a nice layered look. Nice job, hope you enjoy your new sketchbook.
