Wig Shopping

dfw-bw-car-20080728-1 Since ordering my Dal, I have been pouring over all of the doll wigs on various shopping sites. I wanted to find a redhead wig for my Frara that was more on the natural side of red. In the end, partially because there is a Luts Go happening on the Dolly Market forums, I decided to go with the carrot mohair wig in the pic. It was either going to be the mohair or one of their heat resistant wigs, because I think I’d like to move on to wigs that have more styling possibilities. I just hope this wig looks good on my Frara when it arrives, because I am now officially tapped out of Xmas money and I need to tighten up my purse strings so I won’t be able to buy any more wigs for a while.

Here is the link to the Dolly Market forum if anyone else is interested in participating in the Go:

Good Dolly Find – Plush Bunny

dollyfind-bunny

I found this little plush bunny today at Hobby Lobby in the doll aisle. It measures about 4 inches from it’s ear tips to it’s feet and it works brilliantly as a plush to for MSD sized dolls. It also works as a pretty good plush for Pullips and 60cm dolls. For Pullip it will be an oversize plush though. The great thing about this find is that the bunny has jointed limbs so you can pose it, and it was only $1.00! They also had small bears there and larger sized bears and bunnies if you are looking for oversize plush for your 60cm and up sized dolls.

I found some other fab things today at Hobby Lobby, but I am going to save them for another post when I have time to get some nice pics of my other finds. So stay tuned! 😀

New Wig

newwig01Well my second try at finding a better wig for my AE Yara looks like it may be panning out. Since all of the 7-8 sized wigs I had purchased previously were too large for her, I decided to step down to a size smaller. I purchased this 6-7 JpopDolls wig, which I believe was the Jrock style in blush. In the picture it looks very pink, and the wig does have some pink in it, but in person it is not quite so pink.

Anyway back to the size issues….At first when I tried to put this wig on my Yara, it was too small!! So I was really irritated, but then after having some lunch I decided to go work with the wig and try to get it stretched out some since the ad for this particular wig said that it could stretch to 7.5. After working with it, and using the rubber band trick to keep the wig in place, I was finally able to get it over her head. Right now I am just leaving her be, in the hopes that the longer the wig is on her the more it will stretch and conform to her head.

In the end, I have to say that maybe 6-7 wigs are the way to go for the AE minis since their heads are closer to Unoa size. The bangs come to the right length, and don’t get mussed up in her eyelashes. Anyway this will be the last wig I will be buying for a while now since I already went through 3. :p

Asleep Eidolon Sculpt – Col

col7There are some Asleep Eidolon sculpts that intrigue me, and one of them is Col who is pictured to the left. Her eyes I find are really wide set, which adds this certain something that is both odd and fascinating at the same time. Either way I find her rather unique and I like her quite a lot, so when I am in the market for a SD13 sized girl, she will definitely be on my list to consider. I think what helped seal my like for this doll though were the few lovely images I found of her on flickr in a dark haired wig. She looks quite fetching in dark hair and dark eyes.

Japanese Fabrics

90303_2Last night I was looking at the super cute that are Japanese import fabrics. I wish I had more money so I could buy some because I would loooove to make some super cute doll clothes or plush out of them! I wish we had more of these cute style fabrics here in the US, but no, apparently we are too boring or something. Look, even their straight pins are cuter than ours in Japan!

Here are a few links to online shops selling Japanese import fabrics:
Reprodepot: http://reprodepot.com/index.html
Prices are listed per half yard and are a little bit pricey.

FabricTales: http://www.fabrictales.com/
Prices are per yard and a little less expensive than Reprodepot.

SuperBuzzy: http://www.superbuzzy.com/
Prices are mostly per yard and they are about as expensive as Reprodepot.
