Dollmore Banji

I’ve looked at the Banji dolls before back when I was looking for a roughly 1:12 scale BJD for my small dollhouse. I liked them back then and I still like them now although I feel they would be difficult to find wigs and clothing for. One of the things that made me choose a Brownie over a Banji for my first 1:12 dollhouse doll was the fact that the Banji doll’s eyes are so small and the iris of 6mm eyes are disproportionate to the white, so the iris fills practically the whole eye. Glib has some 6mm eyes with a 2mm iris, BUT the pupil is out of proportion, and they all look like owl eyes. XP However, I recently came across a tutorial on how to make your own custom doll eyes from polymer clay, so there is a possibility of creating some custom eyes for a Banji.

Anyway I am again considering getting a Banji, especially after seeing the special Rose fullset because of the very lovely face-up it has. I could really care less about the clothing set that comes with her though, so that makes me feel like not spending the extra $46 for the special doll. After all, the white Banji has a very nice face-up too with rosy cheeks, but she is sold out….I don’t know if they plan to restock or if it’s perma-gone. Either way I will more than likely have to hold off on any doll purchases until mid July since I may be going on vacation for a week, and the last thing I want is for a doll to arrive when I am gone.

  1. Banjis are dead cute. I got the chance of seeing and holding one irl a couple of years ago, and she was just gorgeous. From comparison pics, it looks like she would be able to wear _some_ Lati Y/Pukifee outfits, at least if they’re tight (elastic), like leggings. Perhaps someone on Etsy would be able to make clothes for you as well, I regularly shop with a store called “Crazy Handmade” (username nubanded), and she’s fast and neat. I sometimes ask her to change details on the listed item, and then she “simply” remakes the outfit from scratch and it only takes a day or so.

  2. I think she would make a great dollhouse doll and companion for my brownie, but I have to confess my mind has wandered to other dolls at the moment. ^^;; I’ve really come to like Elfdoll’s Dami/Yumi and Pipos’s Dreaming Mari…..I had been pondering getting something in the 20cm range to use in the big dollhouse since I think it would be easier for posing than my Pullip/Dal.

  3. Well, how about a 11cm obitsu for the dollhouse – then you can put money aside for the larger dolls on your wishlist and still give your Brownie a friend! 🙂

  4. (talking about the smaller dollhouse, obviously) For the larger dollhouse, I would consider looking for a Mama Chapp (elaborately made custom obitsus in the 23cm range) or perhaps an Azone doll? The obitsu ones would be the easiest ones to pose, Pure Neemo bodies really aren’t _that_ poseable, not even the flexi ones, but the Azone gals are often the cutest. Pros and cons! 😉

  5. Oh yes, I have seen those 11cm obitsu kids and thought they were adorable. Thanks for reminding me, because I think I may just put one on my Xmas list since they are affordable. 😉 Yeah, the Azone girls are super cute….and I’ve also looked at Momoko, but she seems rather expensive for what she is….then again I just said I was drooling over a $360 Elfdoll MSD. ^^;;
