Dollstown Elf Body Arrived!

Kyaaa-h! I’m so excited that my Dollstown elf girl body arrived today! It was actually a little bit torturous because I had to go out to get my hair cut this afternoon right after the package arrived so I had to wait until late this afternoon to open the package and then I was interrupted by the need to fix dinner. Anyhow enough preamble, lets just get on with the pictures!

boxopening01

I didn’t actually take too many box opening pics and what I did take are with my cellphone camera. I was really wowed though after taking the bubble pack off the first hand how delicate the fingers are and then I immediately went to open the second packet of bubble pack encasing the second hand and I had a sigh of relief that nothing was broke, lol. The hands of the elf body are slender and each finger is separate, but despite their delicate look, they are not tiny, in fact later when you see the comparison with the Zaoll body you will see they are close in size to the Zaoll hands.

Here is a resin comparison between Dollmore’s normal skin and Dollstown freshskin. They are actually very close, but Dollmore’s resin has a slightly warmer pinkier cast, however this difference is not horribly noticeable which hopefully you will be able to tell by all of the comparison and hybrid photos I took. In the end if I blush the dollstown body with some pink I think that the difference will be imperceptible, so if you were thinking to make a Dollstown/Dollmore hybrid, this is a very viable option for you.

And I thought I’d throw this in here, but it’s a Zaoll / Dollstown freskin comparison. As you can see, Zaoll is very pinky, so if you wanted to do a hybrid with a normal skin Zaoll, you would have a lot of blushwork ahead of you. ^^;

Ok, so here’s my Dollmore Mio head on the Dollstown elf body. The first shot is me just popping the head on the body…unfortunately the elf neck is a bit short so I added some cool temp hotglue to the inside of Mio’s neckhole. The after shot is after about 1/4inch-ish of hotglue applied to Mio’s neckhole. I think it’s a pretty big improvement, but I think in the end I may order one of those neck ring things coolcat sells after I get back from vacation. The hot glue essentially suedes the neck joint and I feel it makes it a little more difficult to move her head and takes away a little bit of mobility, at least in my opinion. Size wise I’m happy with the size of the head on the body. Zaoll and the Dollstown elf body have just about the same shoulder width measurements of a little over 4 inches or between 10 and 11cm, so it’s not much different than she used to look. I know a lot of people have their own preferences for body to head ratios, and some people may consider her “bobble headed”. but to me she is fine. 🙂

Here is a quick comparison shot of Mio on the elf body next to Zaoll. My apologies that my Zaoll has no eyes or face-up. ^^; I need to wait for a warmer day to give her a face, and at this point it probably won’t happen until after my vacation. So in comparing these two bodies, the elf body is a little bit taller than Zaoll and that height comes from her legs. The torso’s of both dolls are about the same length. Zaoll of course has curvier hips and a bit larger bust, her legs are also a bit thicker.

Clothing wise, the elf body can swap clothes with Zaoll, BUT, because Zaoll has more width in her hips, clothing like underwear and pants will be a bit loose.

And she can still wear the Dollmore SD girl top I bought for her when she was on the Zaoll body. Oh and I should also mention that Zaoll shoes also work for the elf body as well. 🙂 Though I only have the white mary janes from their website. Well, I think that’s about it for the info. Overall I’m super happy with this hybrid, though on occasion when I glance in her direction I think her neck may still be a smidge too short, but overall I’m just super smitten with Mio in general. X3 I can’t wait now for the weather to stop being quite so bitter cold so I can blush the new body and I think I also need to re-do Mio’s face-up since she was blushed to match the Zaoll body. For the time being though she is fine.

Zaoll Luv Box Opening

So color me surprised when I woke up Friday morning, but my Zaoll had arrived! \(*0*)/ Because I never received a shipping notice or package tracking from Dollmore I just assumed my doll had not shipped yet and I would have to wait until at least their summer vacation was over to hear anything. It was a pleasant surprise though and I’m definitely not complaining about getting my doll sooner rather than later. Anyway on with the pics! Be warned this is going to be pic heavy!

box01

So….BOX! Of course my cat is ever curious. 😉 I love it when cats show up in other people’s box openings, so here’s my contribution, lol.

box02

And it’s open….I ordered a few clothing bits from Dollmore as well since I didn’t want my Zaoll to be completely clothes-less before I get a chance to make her anything.

box03

Here’s the freebies this time around. Looks like I got a little mesh shopping bag a couple of doll headbands with bows and a pretty decent pair of brown glass eyes that have a little bit of shimmer about them. I’m not sure what size they are though, but if they are the right size I may wind up using those instead of the black eyes I selected in my order.

box04

Wooo~ the gold Dollmore box. 😀

box05

Any removing the top cushion reveals the mummy inside! I kind of felt like I was tomb raiding or something when I saw this, especially with the gold box and a mummy shaped figure inside. Ha, that might be a funny idea for a photoshoot…but gods I would need more space before I could pull that off.

box06

And here we have the first glimpse of the girl. 🙂 Dollmore really goes out of their way to pack their dolls. I’m going to have to say that this Zaoll was by far the best packed doll I’ve ever received.

box07

One of the things I really like about the Zaoll sculpt are the hands. I always like it when there is a little bit of fingernail tips sculpted at the end of the fingers. Plus these hands also have a nice graceful pose. Unoa’s hands are still by far my favorite in terms of female hands though.

box08

Ok, so now it’s time for comparisons and such. Here she is between my Sona and Unoa Lusis. I am actually really super happy about the size of the doll. When I originally saw the box I had a little but of uh-oh feels because I thought she might be too big of a doll for my tastes. Really I think I am an MSD girl, but I really loved Dollmore’s Mio sculpt so I thought since the Zaoll body is smaller maybe I can have my Mio and a smaller doll. So far it looks like I can! I’m still waiting for my Mio head to arrive and then this Zaoll is getting hybridized.

box09

So, resin comparisons…On the left is my Dollmore Kid Sona, and Zaoll on the right of course. So, it is true, Zaoll has a pinkie tone to her resin. My Sona though is maybe around 4 years old now, so it’s possible she could have some yellowing, but in all honesty I don’t feel her resin has changed in color since the day I got her. Overall I think as far as my hybrid goes, I will just blush my Mio’s head a little bit to match the pink tone of the Zaoll skin. To be honest, after you get a doll fully clothed I don’t think most people would half notice the difference in photographs…especially since the shadow that happens between the head and the chin is enough of a demarcation line. I’ll take plenty of photos of course for reference once I get my Mio head. 🙂

box10

So, as far as single joint dolls go, I’m inclined to be of the mindset that she is very well designed because as you can see I was able to make her touch her face. Of course her hand is resting on her chin which helps, but I also had her with her hand in her hair and a finger to her lips.

box11

Her torso joint is very stiff right now, but you can make her bend forward a little. I don’t mind a stiff torso too much, because lately I’ve noticed that my Sona’s torso joint has been slipping a bit much. I have some cold temperature hot glue though so a bunch of my dolls will be getting hot glue sueded soon.

box12

Here she is again, this time with her torso turned a little bit to the right. So far she is a pretty good poser and stands and sits well. I haven’t had too much time to mess around with her yet since I have so many other things to do right now, but if I have any other reports to make I will definitely blog about them. 🙂

box13

So, lastly I’ll say a few words about the clothing I bought for her. To begin with the SD girl’s raglan shirt I bought her fits her well. They say that Zaoll loses more of her height in her legs which are a bit shorter it looks like than most SD dolls. I also bought a vrilla skirt, and a pair of white shoes, all which fit well. The Justo pants however, which are the jean pants in the picture, well they are a bit long, which is fine if you are looking for a longer sort of boot-cut style. All in all they fit well around the waist, but length wise if this is not what you are looking for then I probably wouldn’t bother with these pants.

Unoa Lusis Arrived!

She’s here, and much sooner than I expected to boot! I have to say that after much fretting and curiosity over the condition of her since she is secondhand, I find her to be far prettier in person despite her bad face-up and body blushing. 😀 Anyhow box opening pics follow, along with some quickie resin comparisons between Unoa, Dollmore, and Asleep Eidolon. Also I wanted to be sure to record her well with photos so I can have clear progress pics of her impending “make-over” so I can see how much more beautiful she will become! :DD

Read on behind the cut

Dollmore & Asleep Eidolon Resin Comparison

After getting my Sona out of her box, one of the first things I wanted to do was to see how the tint of Dollmore’s resin compared to Asleep Eidolon’s resin. The Dollmore kid body lacks the mature features that many of the other female MSD bodies have, so there are many Dollmore kid owners who have been pondering how they can get a more mature body for their girls. Of course I am in no hurry to hybridize my Sona because she is just to perfect to me right now, but perhaps after her newness wears off I may find myself more willing to embark on experimentation. Anyway on with the comparison pics.

In this pic we have Sona on the left and my AE Yara on the right. My AE Yara has the old style slim body, and the AE girls are now on their third body type which is no longer as slim. I don’t know if AE’s resin color has changed at all between incarnations but if I find any definitive information I will be sure to edit this posting. Anyhow from the pic you can see that the two resins are very similar and I would say they are a pretty good match. AE’s resin is ever so slightly more cream colored and Dollmore’s is slightly whiter, but you really have to sit there and analyze and nit-pick in order to see the difference.

Anyway here is a close-up with more natural light from the window for those of you who would like more comparison shots in different lighting. Hopefully these pics can help people with their decision making when they are considering a different body for their Dollmore Kid.
