Progress on Custom Rainbow Dash

I realize I haven’t posted anything about how my custom Rainbow Dash was coming along, so here is a little progress shot. At this point she has been re-rooted with all of the beautiful pony hair from dollyhair.com and I’ve customized her face a little just to give her a more determined look. 😉 At this point she is waiting now for me to have some time to run to the fabric/craft supply so I can purchase some water resistant glue to seal her hair inside her head. After that happens I will then be able to reattach her head and begin styling her new hair so she looks more like herself.

Maybe I’ll get lucky and have some time this weekend to go on a supply run because I think it’s high time I got Dash back together again!

  1. wow, you beet me to it. I just got my hair in the other day. Yh with the exception of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy I plan to do-root the main six so there hair is more show accurate.

  2. Excellent! Good luck with your project. I love seeing more pony customs out there since it’s so sad that Hasbro didn’t do that great of a job making the figures look like their characters.

  3. Pretty neat, but just thought of the idea to remove some old G3 dolls’ hair and recustomize the ponies. My little sister would be horrified though, but tecnically they are mine. What do ya think of my idea?

  4. Well, you might show her some customized pony pictures to get her excited about it. Everyone loves to have something unique!

  5. How did you do the eyes? did you remove the original eyes and paint with a brush or marker or something?
    Nice job btw!

  6. I only removed the original eye lashes with a q-tip soaked in isopropyl alcohol, then I painted the new lashes in and added the angled brow. I just used a slightly thinned acrylic paint, and then sealed them with Testor’s Dullcote.
