Momocolor’s Emma

When I was browsing the news posts at BJDcollectasy the other day I noticed the posting for the doll company Momocolor. The face shape of the doll reminded me a little of Pullip, being so big and round, so I decided to read more and holy cow, look at that adorable body for the doll!! She’s a little on the tall side for a yosd range doll at a height of 29cm, but she is really nicely proportioned for a yosd range mature tiny. I’m going to have to keep this one on my “to watch” list. I’m curious to see what other head sculpts the company will come up with and also what the first round of owners of these cuties will think of them. Hopefully it won’t be too long before they have a discussion thread on DoA I can haunt, lol.

In other dolly news, I have now made my first foray into the yosd sized dolly world. Just a couple days ago I purchased a Slinky Neko Borry Pennybrite fullset off a seller on DoA and I am anxiously awaiting her arrival. If I had seen the Momocolor dolls before my purchase they definitely would have been in the running! I looked over so many different yosd sized dolls and there are still many sculpts out there I love, so I can foresee owning more than one yosd eventually. My other favorites were the Bambicrony and Aidolls, but even Luts had some cuties and I still have a soft spot for Dollzone’s big eyed Sis. Argh, so many dollies and not enough money!! XP

New Kemper Wigs and Eyes Arrived.

I ordered a handful of Kemper’s mohair doll wigs last week and they arrived today, so I had some fun trying the different colors and styles on my MSD gals. The wigs I purchased were the Giselle mohair in medium brown in both sizes 6-7 and 2-3, the 2-3 being for my Brownie which I will get to later, and lastly I ordered the Raven mohair in medium brown and carrot colors, both size 6-7. Above, Sona is wearing the Raven medium brown, and I love how it looks on her, though I was tinkering with the levels of the image in photoshop so it appears a bit darker in the pic than it does in person. Yara is wearing the same shade, but in the Giselle style, and lastly my Unoa Lusis is wearing the Raven wig in carrot, though again the adjusted colors make the wig appear more red.

So, here are my overall impressions of these wigs. First of all the 6-7 Raven wigs fit both Unoa and my Dollmore Kid Sona very well with no problems, but I was really kind of sad to find that it was difficult to get this style of wig to fit on my AE Yara. 🙁 It seemed like the room was there in the headcap, but perhaps because of the shape of the cap or the shape of my Yara’s head, the wig just kept popping right off. I really wanted Yara to be able to wear the Raven carrot mohair, because she was really the doll I had in mind when I ordered it. I am however going to maybe play around with the wig and perhaps add some velcro to Yara’s headcap to see if perhaps it might help any. What’s weird is that the Giselle style wig is just a scootch bigger in the wig cap and therefore can be worn by all 3 dolls, however I just wasn’t as fond of that one. The chocolate color, or medium brown shade as listed on the site is a really gorgeous dark brown. I don’t think anyone would be disappointed by the shade of dark brown, and the Raven wigs are especially soft. Both Sona and Lusis look really good in the medium brown Raven wig, so it’s going to be difficult to choose which gets to wear it. ^^; As for the carrot color…I guess I was hoping for something a little more red like in the picture I took, but in actuality the carrot mohair from kemper is more of a natural redhead, copper sort of tone. I may consider experimenting with dying the wig, but that will have to wait for later.

Last but not least my little Brownie Haha got a new wig too, and oh I just find it super adorable. The wig she is wearing the the Giselle mohair, medium brown in size 2-3. When I first saw this wig in it’s package I had a squee moment because I could already tell it didn’t have that odd bulk that a lot of tiny wigs can have, but then when I tried to fit it on her I realized that it was going to be problematic. ^^;; I’m not sure if the size 2-3 in this style is just a skootch small or whether it’s just a matter of headcap shape and dealing with such a tiny head, but the wig wanted to pop off. Because I really loved the wig I spent some time gently stretching it, and I added a small piece of double sided tape to my Brownie’s headcap to help the wig stay on. Just doing this apparently worked because the wig fits her fine now. I’m so in love with this wig because I feel that finally I have something that looks natural for a tiny doll her size. It’s not overly bulky, and the hair is fine enough to be passable scale wise. I’m still curious how the 3-4 might fit a Brownie, but I’m so pleased with this wig that I don’t foresee buying any new wigs for her for a long time. 🙂

So, there’s my adventures with Kemper wigs for what it’s worth. I do love their mohair, and their acrylic eyes also surprised me with how nice of quality they are, especially for the price!! So yay! Another good order fulfilled by Kemper. 🙂

Sleepy eyed tinies

I am such a fan of the sleepy/dreamy eyed tinies, and this new Rustle of Spring Modigli is no exception! Aside from mooning over MSDs, I’ve also been researching and considering getting a 20-30cm tiny that I could use with “The Big House”. XD The sleepy eyed Modigli has I think just the right amount of openess in her eyes if that makes sense. Her eyes are closed enough to have a sweetly dreamy look, but also open enough to let the eyes shine. Modigili’s lips also have nice volume and pout to boot. 😀 The only thing I find fault with in the iMda 3.0 is the body. The body starts out well enough at the top as it doesn’t have the chunkiness of most tinies of this size, and then the fact that she has some semblance of hips is nice, but she definitely has thunder thighs! I guess I shouldn’t be too critical since I have a Dollmore Kid, all of whom have thunder thighs, but in iMda 3.0 it starts looking like it’s a beginner Puns….well this is just my opinion. ^^; So with all this said I still find that my favorite 20-30cm tiny body is Pipos with it’s twig legs and the option for a large bust. However their new body which takes away the lower torso joint leaves a little bit to be desired. 🙁

Speaking of Pipos, their Dreaming Mari was really the first tiny I ever became interested in. This is mainly because of her incredibly cranky look and slightly more mature face. My only concern with Dreaming Mari is that her eyes almost seem too closed so I worry that it might be difficult to get good photos, and she probably shouldn’t have lashes. As I said before though I think the Pipos body is aesthetically superior, though I can still appreciate the Littlefee Body which also has twiggy legs. My only problem with Littlefees are that their faces are a little too babyish for my taste and you also see so gosh darn much of them. I swear there are probably enough Antes out there to start an army big enough to invade a small country. XD Anyhow I think I’m rambling at this point so I will go ahead and cut this posting here. I still have more MSDs I’d like to blabber on about, but that will be for another post. 😉

Dollmore Banji

I’ve looked at the Banji dolls before back when I was looking for a roughly 1:12 scale BJD for my small dollhouse. I liked them back then and I still like them now although I feel they would be difficult to find wigs and clothing for. One of the things that made me choose a Brownie over a Banji for my first 1:12 dollhouse doll was the fact that the Banji doll’s eyes are so small and the iris of 6mm eyes are disproportionate to the white, so the iris fills practically the whole eye. Glib has some 6mm eyes with a 2mm iris, BUT the pupil is out of proportion, and they all look like owl eyes. XP However, I recently came across a tutorial on how to make your own custom doll eyes from polymer clay, so there is a possibility of creating some custom eyes for a Banji.

Anyway I am again considering getting a Banji, especially after seeing the special Rose fullset because of the very lovely face-up it has. I could really care less about the clothing set that comes with her though, so that makes me feel like not spending the extra $46 for the special doll. After all, the white Banji has a very nice face-up too with rosy cheeks, but she is sold out….I don’t know if they plan to restock or if it’s perma-gone. Either way I will more than likely have to hold off on any doll purchases until mid July since I may be going on vacation for a week, and the last thing I want is for a doll to arrive when I am gone.

Dolly Find – Itty Bitty Clippies XD

When I was at Target the other day, I happened to notice that they have these teeny-tiny hair clips in now. You can find these in the main hair accessories/brushes aisle, which in Midwestern Target stores are located across from the shampoo. Anyway these are the smallest clips I’ve ever seen there, and they work very well for tiny BJD, and are also cute on MSD sized dolls. I haven’t tried them on any SD sized dolls yet since I only have a boy doll who does not cross-dress. XP Back to business though, these tiny hair clips are made by Goody, and they are part of their girl’s line. You get 18 clips per pack, and they are not very expensive at around $2.50 per pack.

Well, happy shopping!
